The Grudge
The genre of The Grudge is a horror and mystery film, the style of the film is a remake of the Japanese horror, the title gives this away.
The audience for this film would be more towards young adults.
The subject theme is haunting/ possession/ supernatural themes.
The style of how the camerawork, sound track and the editing are used gives this type of theme.
The sounds include "stabs" at the scary moments, for example when she’s in the shower and a hand appears from her head.

Costume - Normal contemporary clothing
Make-up - horror make-up, white pale faces, long black hair
Lighting - atmospheric
Setting / Location - American nurse living and working in Tokyo
Props - Blood and fire
Stock Characters - Ghost and monster like teenage girl and little boy
- Victim and Survivor is the American nurse
Themes of the film are about revenge, as it tells you through the title.
Childhood, flash backs of neglected children that have been abused
Shows negative emotions. Its supernatural phenomena.
