A group of three teenagers drive into the forest to make a film, the camera would show the car on its way to the place, then whilst there in the car one of them would be purposely holding the camera by their hand and just filming random stuff while there on their way. they get to the abandoned house, they have heard rumors about people turning into something else and acting completely weird, whilst still holding the camera by hand she records the place all around while the boys talk about the story they had heard and she’s says 'I have a bad feeling' but the boys obviously laugh at her because she’s just a girl and girls are typically scared of places like that. her face does not show at all in the beginning, no one has ever stepped foot into that place after they have heard stories like this, so they decided to film their media project for college at that setting because they knew no one else would and they thought the old stories where all lies. Then it turns into a massacre when the girl disappears from their group, as she had a bad feeling about this from before. we film them going into the place, so you only see them from the back, and then u randomly see the camera on the floor and the girl walks away from it as if she is possessed, the boys pick up the camera while it is still recording.
When the boys realize she is lost they start to look for her all around the place, they think she’s playing some stupid game and they don’t take her seriously. They still keep the camera on just to mess about with it and have a bit of joking around.
They see movement in between the trees and start to investigate, they think it’s her hiding so they go closer, and suddenly the camera is behind them very close up, and Then she turns up from behind them saying 'hey guys' in a normal voice and the boys get scared and quickly turn around and they see her with a pale white face, with her long hair covering half of her face and her eyes black as ever, also with a black pole in her hand which she uses to strike both of them down to the floor.  They end up in the car, the car starts to move of on its own while she’s just standing there watching it. They both recover but wake up in the boot, tied up which is still moving and comes to a halt. As soon as the boot opens they are struck by sunlight and there is no one in visible sight. Then it ends with the girl coming into the camera screaming.

The Shining

We have chosen to analyse the poster for the “Shining.” The typing is in red ink, the signifier signifies the title of the film “Shining” and this is an icon in the poster. The denotation of the style the title is written in is bold, red letters. This connotates the meaning of danger and blood. The style of the title also signifies and denotates that this is a horror film.
The Photo of Jack Nicholson in a close up is also the signifier and it signifies that he is angry, violent and crazy as he stares to the side where the axe and the woman is, with her mouth wide open as she is scared. This suggests him being the antagonist of the horror film. The connotation of the photo is an angry man, however we can denotate from the way he looks that he may want to kill the woman.
The signifier of the axe smashing through the door signifies violence and someone trying to break in. This is also an icon as we can instantly identify the action. Using weapons violently is a common convention of a horror, although the denotation is just an axe being hit through the door.
Another icon in the picture is the signifier of the mid-shot of the woman with an open mouth which signifies that she is shocked of the axe. The knife in her hands signifies how she is trying to protect herself. The denotation of the picture is a woman with a scared face expression and it connotates that she is terrified of the other character.

The Pact

What is the Narrative structure of the whole film? (Why was it chosen?)
The narrative structure of the film is Liner, the story is told in the order in which events happen.
The reason why they have chosen this is because it’s a horror movie and they slowly find out step by step what is going on and have to try and resolve the situation. And most horror films use this type of narrative structure.

What is the narrative point of view? (Why was it used?)
The narratives point of view is a restricted narrative, we as the audience know the same things as the characters in the film. This has been used so that the audience feel like they are part of the film. Doing this makes the audience more involved in the film, and gives it that frightening feeling.

Which narrative events where chosen for the trailer and why?
The trailer of the film shows who’s gone missing, gives you an idea of what will happen because she has gone. It shows the freighting parts of the film to get the audience interested and makes them want to know what happens next and also the best scenes have been put together to make it look like a good film, but then again doesn’t spoil the film.
